Dunn's Famous

The smoke meat was cold fries room temperature. The waiter never came to see if we were ok. The washroom is not clean in the basement would not want to go alone down there not were light. The Dunn's downtown is very disappointing. The best is in Brossard. The clearness of the restaurant was not up to pare. Duty napkins on the floor the mirrors are dirty. Would not go back here again.

The onion soup was okay, but the fries are lovely and I had an overall great experience. I love the atmosphere as well as the tables having individual designs.

My Quebecois friend recommended this place saying it's better than Schwartz. I can't say anything about it being "better" than any other popular places in Montreal anyway but I liked how I didn't have to wait in line to get in, how quiet it was when I went since it was not either lunch or dinner time on a midweek day. I liked the old school vibes and the food. I had the petite smoked meat sandwich with poutine and it was a lot of food! I took off one star only because the server wasn't really that kind nor attentive- she didn't do any quality check after the food was served and seemed kind of cold. It's just the impression I had but she at least did her job that was necessary.

Nice restaurant for a nice smoked meat which in my perspective is as good as Schwartz but lot less crowdy

A visit to Montreal is not complete without a smoked meat sandwich. I had the small sandwich with fries, coleslaw and a pickle on the side. This size was more than filling! I like they they asked if I wanted either vinegar or mayonnaise with my fries. My sandwich came out hot. Service was swift and friendly. Really enjoyed my tasty meal.

Great atmosphere. Food was delicious. I would definitely go again.

The 1927 burger is awesome, although the side fries were somehow over fried. The onion and cheese soup is also delicious.

It's famous for a reason! Dunn's has great food, great drinks, and amazing service.

Summary: 11/10 service, great food, highly recommended.Service was by far the best I have seen in all the restaurants I have been to. Great explanations and recommendations on the different smoked meat sandwiches. When my order came, the sandwich looked much smaller than what my friend got (8 oz) and instead of wandering off, she immediately noticed and got it changed to my order (8 oz). I definitely appreciate them looking out for us. The picture attached is the "Super Combo Smoked Meat", I upgraded the fries to a caesar salad for an additional $2. The salad was great, but it may be a little too saucy for some tastes. The smoked meat was gigantic so it is not recommended to try to fit it all in your mouth. The meat was absolutely delicious. It was at cooked perfectly and the combination with the bread they used allowed you to fully savour how much effort they put into preparing the meat. Definitely filling, delicious, and satisfying.

We went here for a bite to eat after a night at the club. I had a Ruben that was absolutely amazing. I can't wait to go back the next time I'm up in the area!

Not as good as good as we thought. For the famous dish (pastrami) we've had better. Very casual atmosphere. Buffalo poutine fries were yummy but nothing to race about.

Great food. I had the Reuben and it was almost too much for me, personally. If you're not a huge eater prepare to bring some take-home containers. You won't be complaining though because the smoked meat itself is so tasty. The atmosphere is more of a family/diner vibe. I went at lunch on a weekday and saw tons of locals though, so you know it's legit.

I don't know how they did it but they did. We were greeted by smiles even though we walked in with a large stroller (I know, I know, but I talked this place up to the In-laws). Food was great beer washed it down and we walked away with nothing but smiles and a few mustard stains.

I like the smoked meat fried rice. Other food also taste good. However the cooking smells was too strong inside...

Eventhough I see great reviews.The food I had was horrible. Cheeseburger was very undercooked and flavorless.Chocolate shake tastes watery and tasteless . It even appeared not to have any chocolate. Even pepsi didn't taste right.I would not repeat or recommend this place. Perhaps it's a hit and miss but my food was a strike out.I would not repeat or recommend.

We were there with a group of 15 for a retirement party, the staff was fast and efficient, they were very accommodating and let us decorate the area where we were. The food and service was top notch.can't wait to go back.

Way before poutine was a thing, Montreal was famous for being the city that brought the "Montreal Smoked Meat Sandwich" to the world. It may look similar, but it is not to be confused with the New York Pastrami sandwich, which is famous in its own right. They are cousins with similarities and differences. Several Montreal delis claim that they were the ones that invented - or brought over from the old continent - the smoked meat sandwich as we know it today. One such place is Dunn's, very convenient for its location downtown. It's been serving the sandwich for a long time.

Dunn's is very good, the old sports bar atmosphere really says a lot about this place, and the food is amazing. The smoked meat bagel is definitely the way to go.

I managed to stumble into Dunn’s while visit Montreal on work. A colleague back home in America insisted that I try poutine since it isn’t something common to us. I genuinely hope all poutine is this good because wow! The portion was more than healthy, the smoked meat was so so tasty. The service was good, appreciated the bilingual staff, prices were more than fair. Definitely stopping back by next time in town.

Open 24 hours. One of the two men working that night at the front was very nice and helpful (my first time in Montreal and trying Dunn's).Love the smoked meat poutine and smoked meat sandwich. (Asked a few times for no mustard..so disappointed when the sandwich had mustard when i got back to my hotel)But the meat was spectacular! So delicious and perfect! The spicy crispy chicken burger was also delicious (i made it a double patty. Great idea!)Loved everything! Was a little expensive ($50 for 3 items) but definitely a Must- have when visiting Montreal

One of the best diners in Montreal! Staff is magnificent especially very late at night considering the customers they have to deal with. The smoked meat is some of the best in the city and the fries are outstanding. One of my favourite spots! The best part is that they’re open 24-7!

Great smoked meat - like pastrami for Americans - in an old-timey Cafe setting. My wife and I shared a Reuben. Came with fries (okay, not great) and a small cup of vinegar based slaw. The slaw was very good.Would definitely return.

Went for lunch with a friend, service was fast and polite. It was great, the smoke meat melts in your mouth, the fries thick and a nice crunchy pickle to go with it, it was the typical smoke meat experience you know and love. If you don't know it, try it.

A classic in Montreal. Great for late night food. When we went we were seated and served quite quickly. Food was great.

Montreal is well know for it's smoked meat shops and Dunn's is among the best of the best. The meat here is terrific. Sat at the small bar and the special - smoked meat sandwich, fries and coleslaw. it was all very good. Even though it was super busy, wait staff managed to make sure i was well taken care of.

Don't believe the map! The arrow should be between the two subway lines. We had the classic brunch fail. Short staffed. Got the order wrong. Wait staff spending more time with each other than the customers. Still trying to figure out what they're famous for.

Smoked meat is excellent. Poutine was very good. Great stop on our visit to Montreal. Bought some smoked meat packages for home. A must when in town.

Staff were friendly and accomodating. I had a nice lunch while the kids got their hair cut at the barbershop upstairs. Will most likely make this a regular stop.

Melt in your mouth smoked meat. The decor is old, which makes it charming. As this sort of place goes, you will not find better, and it is open 24 hours a day.

I really enjoyed the awesome food and their famous Montreal Sandwich. Servers were very polite and helpful since my French is limited. I'm looking forward to visit this place again next week.

Absolutely amazing, Poutine was definitely top 3 of Montreal. Pricing is fair and sericxe was okay. Drinks and food came out quickly and I cannot mention enough how great the general tao poutine was.

Trendy restaurant with good service! Huge menu for the size of the restaurant... something for everyone. Smoked meat sandwich was tasty, all staff friendly.

The food was nothing less than yummy. Properly cooked and well served. The smoked meat were better than the 'most famous' one in Montreal. Adding to flavor was the friendly staff. A must visit place if you are in this area.

Smoke meat was excellent. Even before a hockey game and a big rush, slices were thin and well cut. Great place for smoked meat sandwiches. Have not really tried other items on the menu.

Service was great, I couldn’t leave Montreal without a smoked meat sandwich. It was pretty good. The poutine was alright but maybe my expectations were too high. Overall I’d come back but not for the poutine.

Food was good, except the Latkas were not as good as the rest of the rest of the food. Decor is alright trying to stay authentic Montreal Diner. However service is so slow. If you are in a rush do not come to this place. If you aren't in a rush, they have really good food! They have a nice twist of original Montreal food.

I ordered the meat plate and was not disappointed at all. The brisket was super tender, melt in your mouth and seasoned to perfection. I opted for the cesar salad as a side instead of the fries and that ended up being a good choice. The serving sizes are more than adequate, you shouldn't leave hungry. Service on this visit was unfortunately slow and our server was not that attentive or proactive, not bad just could have been much better.

I had poutine for the first time here. And I kept going back everyday during my stay in Montreal. The food is delicious and the staff are super friendly 😁 Highly recommended!

I grew up in Montreal and moved to Toronto in 76. Yet I love returning to Mtl every summer to reminisce the good times there. Dunn's is a tradition to visit and enjoy amazing smoked meat with a pint of Molson EX!

The Montreal smoked meat in any form is amazing. The portions are huge and the food is delicious.

I came here with my cousin back in May 2019. We were hungry so we picked a random restaurant. I got a lunch special while she got the buffalo chicken poutine. My meal came with the daily soup, which was delicious. I opted for the smoked meat bagel, knowing that’s what Montreal is known for. The bagel was sweet, which paired perfectly with the salty meat. The portion was huge and I didn’t finish the fries it came with. (I’m writing this review many months later, but I remember the fries not being that good. I think they were flavourless, but don’t quote me on that. I just remember I didn’t like them.)The service was great, and the staff members are bilingual. We also came at a good time because we didn’t have to wait for a seat, but while we were eating a long line formed.
